Jeanne Jalandoni
Jeanne F. Jalandoni lives and works in Uptown Manhattan. Working primarily with paint and textiles, Jalandoni collages painted images and textiles to address a personal narrative of growing up as a second-generation American with limited exposure to her Filipino heritage.
Her Filipino American identity not only encompasses Filipino and American culture, but also the complicated historical relationship between both nations and what it means to inherit both histories. Jalandoni references family photos, childhood memories, fashion, food, and national symbols to document her narrative and define Filipino Americanism for herself. Jalandoni received her BFA from New York University in 2015.
